Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa on his election as the interim Chairperson of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). In a post on social media platform 'X,' Solih expressed his confidence in Ghafoor's leadership, stating that he believes Ghafoor will guide the party effectively during this crucial period. Ghafoor, the MP for Hanimaadhoo constituency, was elected with an overwhelming 65 out of 66 votes during the MDP National Congress meeting. He thanked the members for their support and vowed to lead the party forward. The position became vacant following the resignation of former Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail.
