Four Maldivian handball referees have successfully completed the Continental Referee Course conducted by the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and obtained the prestigious Asian Continental Badge. The course was held in Faisalabad, Pakistan from October 23 to November 3. The Maldivian referees who achieved this honor are Fateema Malsha, Aishath Shimla, Fathullah Jameel, and Afnaan Ahmed. The Ministry of Sports welcomed the four referees in a social media post, stating that this achievement marks an important advancement for Maldivian handball refereeing and demonstrates the increasing skill level and growing international recognition of Maldivian referees. Handball has recently gained popularity in the Maldives, and efforts are underway to upgrade the outdoor handball court in Malé to modern indoor standards. During the 'Aha' forum held last month, Minister of Sports Abdullah Rafiq announced that the renovation would be completed soon and the court officially opened.
