The government has appointed four new members to the board of Visit Maldives Corporation Limited (VMC), the state-owned enterprise responsible for the global promotion of the Maldives as a premier tourist destination.
The new appointments include Hudha Faheem, Aishath Mal’ha, Aishath Ali, and Ali Shinan. The selection reflects a diverse composition, with three women and one man joining the leadership team. These individuals replace outgoing board members Abdul Sameeu Imad, Aishath Hameed, and Sabeeha Ahmed.
The VMC board consists of nine members tasked with steering the nation's tourism marketing strategies. The corporation continues to be chaired by Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz, with Ibrahim Shiury serving as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Other existing board members include Maha Naseer and Aminath Vulau Mohamed.
As the primary entity mandated to maintain the Maldives' competitiveness in the international travel market, the VMC board plays a critical role in designing campaigns that attract diverse demographics and sustain the tourism sector, which remains the backbone of the Maldivian economy.
