Education ·
In today's Friday sermon, it was stated that among the family ties emphasized to be maintained in Islam, the most important is the tie of kinship, and that maintaining kinship ties is a cause for abundant sustenance in this world and blessings in one's lifespan. The theme of today's Friday sermon is 'The Importance of Strengthening Family Ties.'
Human society is formed by families. The Friday sermon stated that a strong society cannot be built unless these families are strengthened. Today, everyone's complaint is about the moral standards of individuals in society declining day by day. It is about the ties that should exist within the family not being present. It is about families breaking apart and becoming fragmented. It is about making efforts to rectify these issues. The Friday sermon stated that the biggest reason for the decline in the moral standards of individuals in society is how our growing children are raised and the education they receive.
Every person is born into this world with the purity of nature. Through Islam, we are instructed to strengthen close relationships. However, a child turns out differently based on the education and upbringing they receive. It depends on the manner in which the child is raised and brought up, the Friday sermon stated.
The Friday sermon stated that while parents, guardians, and caretakers raise young children, in addition to teaching them religious matters, they must teach them to respect their parents, instill love for them, and teach them to maintain good relations with close relatives. They must tell the children who their relatives are. They must inform the children with whom they are connected through kinship.
Among the family ties emphasized to be maintained in Islam, the most important tie is kinship. Kinship has been named in connection with the name of Allah Almighty, 'Ar-Rahman.'
Maintaining kinship ties is a cause for abundant sustenance in this world and blessings in one's lifespan. Severing close ties is dangerous. It is considered one of the major sins. The sermon stated that relationships within families can be strengthened by raising children properly. This can only be done if those responsible for upbringing are qualified for the task. The Prophet (peace be upon him) has explained to us what the responsibilities of husbands and wives are in a family. The Friday sermon stated that the most important responsibility of husbands and wives in a family is to protect the rights of their children.
'Obedience to parents is obligatory. Obedience to parents' commands must be given as long as they do not command something that goes against fearing Allah. Because there is no obedience of a creation to a creator in anything that is disliked by Allah. Raising our children to maintain kinship ties and become capable adults is not something that can be achieved solely through the education provided to them. Education must be accompanied by upbringing,' the Friday sermon stated.
The Friday sermon stated that in raising children, in addition to fulfilling all material needs required by the children, efforts must be made to advise the children and make them a group that respects Islamic ethics and legal rulings. This is the responsibility of parents. Undoubtedly, the most desired result of the work done in this regard will be seen when parents become excellent role models for their children. In the noble religion of Islam, parents have been advised to teach their children good ethics from a young age. Along with this, emphasizing respect for religious obligations is also the duty of parents, as stated in today's Friday sermon.
