Ghafoor Assumes MDP Chairperson Role with Commitment to Independence

Abdul Ghafoor Moosa (Ghafoo) has been elected as the Chairperson of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) with 65 out of 66 votes. In his inaugural address, Ghafoor emphasized his commitment to not allowing the influence of any individual to sway party decisions. He expressed gratitude to the members who supported his election and vowed to lead the party based on its core principles. Ghafoor, who has been a long-standing member of MDP, also acknowledged the responsibilities that come with the role and the challenges ahead, including local council elections and internal party coherence.
