Government Invites Bids to Develop E-sports Hub at Malé's Sultan Park
World ·
The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises is seeking a qualified contractor to develop a dedicated e-sports area within Sultan Park in Malé. The initiative, launched at the request of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, aims to integrate modern gaming infrastructure into one of the capital's primary public spaces.
The project will be executed under the framework of current construction regulations and foreign direct investment policies, signaling a strategic move to modernize urban recreational facilities. To ensure transparency and fairness, the government will select the winning contractor through a National Competitive Bidding process, strictly adhering to the Public Finance Act.
Interested parties must navigate a formal application process to participate. The tender requires a non-refundable registration fee of USD 32. To guarantee the commitment of the bidders, the government has set a bid security requirement of USD 2,367, which must remain valid for 148 days following the date of the bid opening.
Prospective contractors are required to submit their proposals through the official government bid portal. The deadline for submissions is 1:00 PM on July 15, with the formal opening of bids scheduled for the following day, July 16.
This development reflects a growing recognition of e-sports as a viable industry and a popular pastime among the youth in the Maldives. By establishing a centralized hub in Sultan Park, the government seeks to provide a structured environment for competitive gaming, potentially fostering local talent and creating new opportunities for digital entertainment in the urban landscape.
