The National Awards Committee has officially opened nominations for the National Award for Public Service, seeking to honor individuals who have demonstrated lifelong dedication to the Maldivian state. This prestigious honor is conferred directly by the President of the Maldives to recognize exceptional careers defined by integrity and sincerity. To qualify for the award, nominees must have served the state for more than 35 years. The committee emphasizes that candidates must consistently demonstrate high capability and sincerity in the discharge of their official duties throughout their tenure. Successful recipients will be awarded a commemorative shield, a distinctive badge of honor, and a certificate during a formal ceremony presided over by the President. Nominations can be submitted by government offices, state-owned enterprises, or companies where the government holds a majority stake. Self-nominations are also permitted, provided the nominee is currently employed or has previously served in the nominating organization, ensuring a verified institutional connection. The selection process involves a rigorous assessment of professional performance and the nominee's contribution to the advancement of their respective institutions. The Committee will evaluate the application of professional skills and notable career achievements. As part of a mandatory verification process, the Committee will also screen nominees for any pending criminal or civil legal cases. Interested parties can submit nominations through the dedicated online portal at apply.presidency.gov.mv. The deadline for all applications is June 11, at 2:00 pm. The Committee has urged all applicants to ensure that nomination forms are completed with precision and accompanied by all necessary supporting documentation to avoid disqualification.
