Government Seeks Electric Vehicles for Efficient Forest Maintenance

The government has announced plans to acquire electric vehicles to assist in the maintenance of forests across the country. This initiative is part of the 'Fast Million Trees Planting Programme,' which aims to enhance greenery and forest cover. Minister of Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim, revealed that the use of electric vehicles will significantly improve the efficiency of forest maintenance activities, especially in larger islands where manual labor is challenging. The programme has already seen over 1 million trees planted this year, with a target of planting two trees per household in every inhabited island. The minister emphasized the importance of tree planting in combating environmental degradation and highlighted the government's commitment to achieving sustainable development goals through such initiatives.
