Government Warns Students Against Unregistered SAS Medical College Advertisements

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development has issued an urgent warning to students and the general public regarding fraudulent advertisements from an entity calling itself "SAS Medical College." In an official statement, the ministry clarified that SAS Medical College is not registered under the Higher Education and Training Act of the Maldives. The authorities warned that the institution is operating without the legal authorization required to provide educational services within the country. Under the Higher Education and Training Act, it is illegal to operate or promote any institution as a college without proper registration. The ministry emphasized that advertising or presenting an entity as a university or college without official government approval constitutes a legal offense. Education officials are urging prospective students to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence before responding to misleading advertisements. The government advises the public to verify the registration status of any higher education provider through official channels to avoid falling victim to academic scams. This warning comes as part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to safeguard the quality of higher education in the Maldives and protect students from institutions that bypass national regulatory standards.
