Local News ·
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has commenced work to replace and install new speed breakers on roads in Hulhumale, aiming to reduce traffic accidents. The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Maldives Police Service, targets areas identified as accident-prone. HDC stated that work began on the 8th of this month, with the installation of tar speed breakers and new road signs. Previously installed speed breakers, which had reduced accidents by 70–80%, were removed due to public concerns over their design and materials. The new bumpers are intended to improve road safety. Additionally, the police have announced that from the 22nd of this month, they will begin taking action against traffic violators using digital and electronic means, including special applications.
