HDC Seeks Public Views on Removing Hulhumalé Temporary Mosque for Park Space

Local News ·
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has launched a public survey to gather opinions on removing the temporary mosque located in the Hiyaa area of Hulhumalé Phase 2 and converting the land into part of Hiyaa Park. In a message shared with the Hiyaa Towers community group, HDC explained that the temporary mosque was initially established to serve residents when mosques in the area were scarce. However, with the development of additional mosques in the vicinity, the corporation now plans to remove the temporary structure and repurpose the land as originally intended for the park. HDC has shared an online form to collect public input. The survey aims to understand how the mosque is currently being used and to share information about the planned redevelopment while seeking community feedback. The corporation assured that responses are collected anonymously and will only be used to gauge public opinion. The Hiyaa Towers are a high-density residential area, and while several larger mosques now exist, the temporary mosque is still used by some residents. HDC stated that public feedback will help refine the project and ensure smooth implementation.
