HDC Wins First Place in SOE Category at Maldives Expo 2026

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has won first place in the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) category at this year's 'Maldives Expo 2026'. The award was presented by the First Lady of the Maldives, Sajidha Mohamed, at the awards ceremony held last night. HDC's Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Malsha Shareef, received the award on behalf of the corporation. HDC showcased several models at the expo, including a model of the dhoani used for transportation between Malé and Hulhumale during the early days of Hulhumale's development, a detailed model of the 'Amazon' dredger that played a crucial role in the reclamation of the first phase of Hulhumale in 2003, and models of smart street lighting designed for Hulhumale. The smart street lighting system allows remote control and energy saving. All models were created by HDC's skilled employees. The Maldives Expo 2026 is being held at Hulhumale Central Park from October 25 to November 2, 2026, featuring over 4,400 products from 600 participants.
