Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim acknowledged that while the current administration has yet to complete specialized hospitals for oncology, thalassemia, and maternity care, significant improvements have been made in healthcare services within these fields. Speaking on SSTV’s Baaru Hathareh program, the Minister emphasized that while efforts to accelerate hospital construction with foreign partners have faced delays, advancements in treatment and testing services have been implemented. Cancer testing is now available in atoll hospitals, and thalassemia services have been enhanced with the new Thalassemia Centre in Hulhumalé. Additionally, fertility treatments previously unavailable under the Aasandha scheme are now accessible. Minister Nazim assured that the government remains committed to enhancing healthcare services and completing the specialized hospitals as pledged.
