Health Minister Tells MNU Graduates: Knowledge, Personality and Skills Are Equally Important

Education ·
Minister of Health, Family and Social Support Qila Ali has stated that knowledge is as important as personality and skillfulness when entering the professional environment. The minister made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of the Maldives National University. The minister noted that students spend a long time studying and emphasized that they should remember their journey through those hurdles. He also encouraged them to gain practical experience in the real world. At the same time, the Minister requested that even if one graduates with an academic degree from the university, it should not be considered the end of the student's educational life. Highlighting that the work environment changes rapidly and that technology brings significant changes to learning and working patterns, Minister Qila said that what is learned will only be useful if one does not stop learning and works to develop oneself. “Many situations will arise where you will have to test the knowledge and skills you have learned. There will also be moments to test your behavior and ethics. Even when faced with deceit and trickery, you must choose honesty. You must prioritize taking responsibility,” Minister Qila said. In his speech, the Minister highlighted the importance of working with integrity and sincerity. Noting that people will mostly remember how a person behaves towards others, the Minister requested respectful treatment of others. “It is important to face failure without giving up to difficulties and work again with courage. It is important to preserve reputation and honor and stand firm on principles,” the Minister said. The Minister stated that success in the professional field should not be judged solely by position and salary. He also said that success is the benefit provided to society by the graduates. Therefore, the Minister urged graduates to become such individuals who are useful to the country.
