Heavy Rain Floods Homes, Cuts Power in Ga. Kolamaafushi

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that heavy rainfall has caused flooding and power outages in Ga. Kolamaafushi. Water entered homes and institutions, and electricity was cut off on the island, resulting in various degrees of damage. Citizens, in coordination with the island council, are continuously pumping out water. The MNDF Sadan Area Command is traveling to the island with pumps and corn husks for sandbags to assist. The Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rain and possible storm surges across the country through next Wednesday.
