Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Eastern UAE Regions

World ·
Heavy rains have lashed the eastern and mountainous regions of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), causing flooding in valleys, with the National Centre of Meteorology warning of strong cloud formations and winds of up to 45 kilometres per hour. According to reports, heavy rain fell across many areas of Sharjah and Hatta, while valleys formed between the mountains flooded and roads were inundated. The National Centre of Meteorology said strong clouds had developed over the eastern regions. Heavy rainfall was reported in Sharjah's Mleiha and Al Madam areas, as well as along the Hatta road. The weather authority said rain is likely across different parts of the country until Tuesday of this week. It also forecast that wind speeds could reach 45 kilometres per hour during periods of rainfall. With strong winds potentially raising dust and reducing visibility, the authorities have urged the public to take precautions. Relevant bodies have also advised people not to travel to flooded valleys or other dangerous areas.
