High Court Judge Ibrahim Mahir Retires After Distinguished Legal Career

High Court Justice Ibrahim Mahir has officially retired from the bench with honour, concluding a career defined by extensive service to the Maldivian judiciary. Justice Mahir was appointed to the High Court on September 25 of last year. Prior to this elevation, he served as the Chief Judge of the Family Court, where he spent the majority of his professional legal career. Over more than 15 years at the Family Court, Justice Mahir played a pivotal role in shaping the adjudication of domestic and familial disputes in the Maldives. The transition began in August this year, when Justice Mahir submitted his formal decision to retire to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the body responsible for the administration and oversight of the judiciary. In a statement following his departure, the High Court expressed its gratitude to Justice Mahir for his valuable contributions and dedication to the law. His retirement marks the end of a tenure characterized by stability and a deep expertise in family law, which he brought to the appellate level during his time at the High Court.
