Hisaan removed as NDMA Chief Executive

Politics ·
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has removed Hisaan Hassan from the post of Chief Executive, a reliable source confirmed to Mihaaru. Further details were not immediately available. Hisaan had headed the authority since it was created. The NDMA was established in 2004, after the tsunami that struck the Maldives and many Asian countries, to help people in emergencies and manage the aid received by the Maldives. When the centre was created, the government appointed Hisaan to run it; at that time he held the rank of Lance Corporal in the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). In 2011, the institution was converted into a civil authority. When a law passed in 2015 gave the institution legal powers, he was still heading it. The institution was later renamed NDMA, and Hisaan was appointed to its CEO post in 2018.
