‘Housing for All’ Applications Open January 15 in Maldives

The Maldives Housing Ministry has announced that applications for land and flats under the government’s ‘Housing for All’ initiative will open on January 15, 2025. The application window will remain open until April 14, with all submissions to be made through the Hiyaavehi Portal. The regulations governing the allocation of land and flats under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s policy were published in the gazette earlier this week. The initiative aims to allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots across 1,250 acres. Male’ residents will have access to two land categories, while priority categories will receive land in the Greater Male’ area and Rasmale’. Residents of other islands currently living in Male’ are eligible only for land in Rasmale’. This marks a shift from the previous administration’s approach, with President Muizzu pledging housing for every Maldivian above 18 years old.
