HPA warns of serious health risks from poor air quality, urges masks and precautions

Health ·
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has warned that poor air quality in the Maldives could lead to serious health issues, including brain and nerve diseases, heart problems, and complications during pregnancy. In a statement issued on Monday, the agency urged the public to take precautionary measures such as wearing masks when going outdoors, especially for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions. The HPA also advised against spending long periods outside and called for extra caution while traveling by sea due to reduced visibility caused by haze affecting several atolls.
