The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has urged the public not to circulate personal information of the victims involved in a sexual assault incident that occurred in a southern island of the Maldives. In a social media post shared today, HRCM appealed against the dissemination of private details and photographs that could compromise the dignity of the victims or expose them to further harm. The commission also called for a swift investigation into the case and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. Nine individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, which involves allegations of sexual assault against a woman and the sexual exploitation of children.
