Hulhumale Accident: Ventilated Patient Moved to Ward, IGMH Confirms
Local News ·
One of the two people who were placed on ventilators following a road accident in Hulhumale has now been moved to a ward, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has confirmed.
The accident occurred earlier this month when a motorcycle carrying three people was being ridden against the direction of traffic on a one-way road in Hulhumale. Five people were injured in the crash and were taken to IGMH for treatment.
IGMH said two of the five patients are still receiving treatment at the hospital, and both are now being treated in a ward after being on ventilators in the intensive care unit. The remaining three patients have been discharged after receiving treatment.
The hospital has not disclosed the nature of the injuries sustained by the patients.
Police said the motorcycle was being ridden by a person who did not hold a licence for that category of motorcycle. Two of the injured people are from the same family.
In connection with the accident, police arrested a 27-year-old man from L. Maamendhoo on the 14th of this month.
