Hulhumale Cemetery burials halted due to waterlogged graves, Malé City Council says

The Malé City Council has announced the suspension of burials at the Hulhumale Cemetery due to water accumulation in graves. According to the council, when graves are dug, between 8 and 9 inches of water is found. As a result, burial services have been moved to the Male' Cemetery. The council stated that heavy rainfall often leads to waterlogging issues in the Hulhumale Cemetery. In previous years, the council has undertaken efforts to address the problem.
