Idhikolhu Candidate Receives Millions in Campaign Support: MDP

The Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has revealed that Idhikolhu's candidate has received millions in campaign funds, alleging government involvement. MDP spokesperson Hussain Hassan emphasized that these funds were used to influence voters and undermine fair elections. According to Hassan, the government is directly supporting certain candidates to sway the upcoming council elections. He criticized the use of financial incentives to gain votes, stating that such practices undermine democracy and create an uneven playing field. Hassan also called on the Elections Commission (EC) to investigate these allegations of undue influence. The MDP has pledged to continue pushing for transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
