If He Respected Maldivian Flag, Muizzu Would Not Have Signed Rasmale' Deal: Imran
Politics ·
Former Home Minister Imran Abdullah said on Monday that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu would not have signed the Rasmale' agreement if he respected the Maldivian flag and the country's land. Speaking at a press conference to announce a new national movement called 'Dhivehinn ge bin Dhivehinnah' (Maldivians' Land for Maldivians), Imran accused the President of lying about the project from the very beginning.
"If he listens to the feelings and sentiments of the people of this country, if the colours on the flag are properly separated, if he respects the sand of Maldivian soil, President Muizzu would not have signed this agreement," Imran said.
The movement, launched in opposition to the Rasmale' project, includes opposition MPs from the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the People's National Front (PNF), as well as lawyer Ali Hussain, who has been active in similar movements before. Imran stated that besides those present, many others are behind the movement, including a large team of young people, a large team of women, and prominent political figures.
He also expressed hope that after today's press conference, many Islamic scholars would stand up and advise Muizzu against proceeding with the project, urging them to become more active in national and religious matters.
The group behind 'Dhivehinn ge bin Dhivehinnah' has requested a meeting with President Muizzu to discuss their concerns regarding the Rasmale' project.
