IGMH Opens Applications for 24 Positions in 13th Medical Internship Batch

World ·
Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has announced the opening of applications for its 13th medical internship batch, offering 24 positions for medical graduates. This mandatory one-year programme serves as the final bridge for graduates to gain practical experience before they formally enter the healthcare workforce. Eligible candidates must hold an MBBS degree from a recognized medical college or university and possess a Certificate of Provisional Medical Registration issued by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council. Additionally, applicants must have a clean police record for the past five years. Required documentation includes the MBBS completion certificate accompanied by an attestation from the Maldives Qualifications Authority. Applicants must also provide an attested copy of their registration from the Maldives Medical and Dental Council along with other supporting documents. Application forms are available for download at www.igmh.gov.mv. Alternatively, candidates can obtain and submit forms at the National Health Account (NHA) Office located at Dharumavantha Hospital between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon on working days. The deadline for all submissions is 12:00 noon on 24 September. In the event that more than 24 eligible candidates apply, IGMH will utilize a priority system based on graduation dates. Preference will be given to those who completed their MBBS degree the longest time ago, ensuring that graduates who have been waiting longer for placement are prioritized. This initiative is part of the broader national effort to integrate new doctors into the health system. Currently, three government facilities—Dharumavantha Hospital, Hulhumale' Hospital, and Addu Equatorial Hospital—provide these essential internship opportunities to ensure the next generation of Maldivian physicians meets national standards of care.
