Inaa Maldives CEO Calls for Investigation Over Viral Video of Men’s Ceremony at Resort
Local News ·
Mohamed Firaagu, CEO of Inaa Maldives, has called on authorities to investigate a video circulating on social media that purportedly shows a marriage ceremony involving two men at a resort in the Maldives. In a social media post, Firaagu expressed concern, stating that while the Maldives has been in the global tourism business for half a century, everyone must respect the country’s laws, regulations, and cultural norms. He emphasized that even resorts run by foreign investors are not exempt from Maldivian law, and foreign investment does not permit violations of the country’s laws. Firaagu urged the government and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and take legal action. The video has drawn widespread criticism, with many commentators arguing such acts should not occur in the country. However, some government-supporting voices have posted on social media that similar events have taken place in the Maldives for a long time and cannot be stopped.
