Individual Admits to Perjury During Umrah Pilgrimage, Faces Legal Proceedings

A Maldivian individual who confessed to committing perjury during the Umrah pilgrimage earlier this year is now undergoing legal proceedings. The announcement was made by Islamic Minister Dr. Muhammad Shakeem Ali Saeed during a press briefing. The minister revealed that more than seven Maldivians were found to have traveled for Umrah improperly this year, and their cases are currently under investigation. The individual in question admitted to the offense during administrative procedures and is now facing legal action, with a decision expected by the 10th of this month. Minister Shakeem expressed gratitude to the Maldivian Immigration Department and relevant authorities for their cooperation and assistance in handling the matter. Additionally, it was noted that between December and January, 7,726 Maldivians traveled to perform Umrah, highlighting the significance of ensuring proper procedures are followed.
