Info Commissioner Orders Defence Ministry to Disclose Details of President Muizzu's Trips to Aarah

The Information Commissioner has ordered the Ministry of Defence to provide Raajje TV with detailed information regarding President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's trips to Aarah within five days. Raajje TV had filed a Right to Information (RTI) request on June 20, 2026, seeking the total number of presidential trips made to Aarah this year, the total expenditure incurred from the state budget, and whether any individuals outside the President's immediate family had accompanied him on these visits. The Defence Ministry responded on July 9, 2026, but Raajje TV deemed the response incomplete and not sufficiently clear. Consequently, the news outlet filed a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office. On Tuesday, 27 October 2026, Information Commissioner Abdul Aziz Jamal Abubaker ruled on the case. He ordered the Defence Ministry to disclose the requested information within five working days. Should the information not exist, the Ministry was instructed to formally notify Raajje TV of this within the same timeframe.
