Internal Audit Summit to Build Future-Ready Frameworks for Maldivian Organizations

The Internal Audit Association will host its annual Internal Audit 360 Degree Summit on September 6, focusing on the theme “Future-Ready Internal Audit.” The event serves as a collaborative forum aimed at strengthening internal audit frameworks across both the public and private sectors in the Maldives. Breaking away from traditional auditor-only conferences, the summit is designed for a broad spectrum of professionals, including corporate management, finance officers, audit committees, and governing boards. Mohamed Shifaz Moosa, a co-founder and executive committee member, explained that the "360 Degree" designation reflects this comprehensive approach to organizational oversight. Due to high demand following the inaugural event, the association has expanded the summit's scale. While last year's capacity was capped at 60 participants, the second edition expects approximately 100 attendees. Shifaz noted that the previous event reached capacity rapidly, prompting the organizers to seek a larger venue to accommodate more professionals this year. Hassan Akram Mohamed, the founding chairperson and vice chairperson, emphasized that becoming "future-ready" involves more than just the adoption of technology and artificial intelligence. He highlighted that critical soft skills—specifically leadership, communication, and relationship management—are essential components of a modern audit system. Registration has seen a surge in interest over the past two months, with attendees representing government ministries, state-owned enterprises, private companies, and non-governmental organizations. While the event is nearing full capacity, the association continues to accept registrations via its website. For those unable to attend the physical summit, the organization is also offering permanent institutional membership to ensure long-term access to their resources and networks.
