IUM to Host Global Research Conference on Building a Learning Society
Politics ·
The Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) will host its premier international research conference, the International Conference on Intellectual Advancement (ICIA), on August 30 and 31. This year’s eleventh edition will convene scholars, researchers, and students from around the world to share research and debate contemporary issues under the theme 'Building a Learning Society for Sustainable Development.'
Dr. Aminath Shafiyaa Adam, Dean of the Center for Research and Publication, stated the conference aims to foster a national culture of research, facilitate global academic exchange, and bridge the gap between scientific research and real-world policy. The ICIA is designed as a key platform to connect academic work with societal development needs.
Researchers and students can submit papers or posters for presentation via the official conference website. To encourage broad participation, submissions are accepted in English, Dhivehi, and Arabic. The deadline for abstracts and full papers is May 15, while general registration remains open until July 15.
A dedicated pre-conference workshop on August 29 will offer aspiring academics training in essential research skills, including abstract writing, methodology, and effective presentation techniques. Since its launch in 2016 and subsequent rebranding in 2019, the ICIA has established itself as a cornerstone event for intellectual discourse in the Maldives.
