Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed's social media post concerning the Rasmale project has gone viral, receiving over 1.5 million views. In the post, Dr. Jameel strongly criticized Mohammed Alabbas, the owner of Eagle Hills company which is proceeding with the Rasmale project, and the government. He noted that the methods used to change the opinion of the Maldivian people are not new. Dr. Jameel stated that the religion, freedom, and national identity of Maldivians are not things that can be sold for money. Addressing Alabbas directly, he said that if he believes influence can be exerted over President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government using money, he should not think the government's support reflects the consent of the Maldivian people. Dr. Jameel assured that Maldivians will never give any opportunity for anything that could harm the country's religious unity, national security, and freedom for foreign interests. He also highlighted that while Maldivians hold great respect for the leaders and citizens of the United Arab Emirates, this respect must be mutual. In his post, Dr. Jameel tagged UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed, Mohammed Alabbas, and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
