The Maldives has initiated the reconstruction of flood protection barriers in Male with the assistance of Japan. This project, funded under Japan's Grant Program for Economic and Social Development, aims to enhance the resilience of the capital city against natural disasters. The construction is being carried out by Toyo Construction Company, which has begun the first phase of the project, focusing on the northern and southern flood barriers of the city. The project is expected to be completed within 487 days, costing approximately 700 million Japanese Yen (about 71 million Rufiyaa). This initiative is part of a larger effort to bolster disaster resilience and infrastructure development in the Maldives.
