Politics ·
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has elected Justice Al-Ustaz Hussain Shaheed as its new Vice President. The appointment follows the resignation of Yazmeed Mohamed, filling a critical leadership role within the body responsible for overseeing the Maldives' judiciary.
Justice Shaheed holds a distinct position within the commission. Aside from the Chief Justice, he is the only judge elected by the Supreme Court of the Maldives to serve as a member of the JSC, highlighting his seniority and standing within the legal hierarchy.
The Judicial Service Commission is composed of 10 members who collaborate to manage the appointment, discipline, and administration of judges across the country. The commission continues to operate under the leadership of its President, Al-Ustaz Husnee Mubarak.
This transition in leadership comes at a time when the JSC remains central to maintaining the independence and efficiency of the Maldivian court system, ensuring that judicial appointments and conduct align with the country's legal frameworks.
