International ·
Dhaka police have revealed that the main shooter and his accomplice involved in the killing of Bangladeshi political activist Sharif Osman Bin Hadi have fled to India. According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner SN Nazrul Islam, two Indian nationals were arrested for allegedly assisting the suspected killers in crossing the border into Meghalaya, a northeastern Indian state. Hadi, a known anti-India activist who gained prominence during the 2024 uprising against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was shot on December 12 and later died in a Singapore hospital on December 18. The shooter, Faisal Karim Masud, and his accomplice, Alamgir Sheikh, reportedly fled to India with the help of two Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian citizens, Purti and Sami, who aided their border crossing. Dhaka police have arrested 11 individuals in connection with the case and are nearing the completion of their investigation, with the charge sheet expected within the next seven to 10 days. However, Meghalaya police have refuted the claims, stating no arrests have been made and no evidence of the suspects crossing the border has been found.
