Kulhudhuffushi Mayor Criticizes Government Over Inaction Despite Budget Allocation
Politics ·
Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif has criticized the government for failing to act on key economic development projects in the region, despite allocating a budget of 110 million Rufiyaa over the past two years. Mayor Athif highlighted that despite the significant funds allocated, no tangible progress has been made in villages across the atolls, particularly in terms of economic development. He emphasized that the decentralization system introduced by the government has not led to the expected changes, and no major projects have been initiated under the PSIP (Public Sector Investment Program). Mayor Athif also pointed out that the council has been working on real estate housing projects, but the government has yet to provide the necessary financial support. He called for immediate action to address the pressing issues faced by the residents of Kulhudhuffushi and the surrounding areas.
