Launch and Dinghy Collide Off Fuvahmulah; Two Injured, One to Be Taken to Malé

Two people were injured in an accident involving a launch that occurred last night in Gn. Fuvahmulah. The incident took place at sea opposite the island's Bodu Fannu area. Police said three people were on board the dinghy at the time of the accident, and that two of them sustained injuries of varying severity. Police also said that following the incident, those on the dinghy were taken aboard the launch and are being treated at Fuvahmulah Hospital. Deputy Mayor Mohamed Lirar told Mihaaru that two of the three people on the dinghy sustained injuries of varying severity. He said preparations are also underway to transfer one of them to Malé. The Deputy Mayor said the person being brought for further treatment has a fractured skull and has suffered additional injuries. According to police, based on the information received so far, the incident occurred when a launch named "Sadhan Sports Fishing" collided with a dinghy that was anchored near Bodu Fannu. Photos circulating on social media show the dinghy's outboard motor badly damaged. The launch involved in the accident also sustained damage.
