Local News ·
Laboratory services are now available at the Maalhos Health Centre, a step aimed at improving access to essential diagnostic care for the island's residents. The service was officially inaugurated in a ceremony attended by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, alongside officials from the ministry, the Maalhos Council, and the health centre. Following the launch, Minister Nazim met with the centre's senior management to discuss operational challenges and identify solutions. He emphasized that laboratory services are a fundamental component of healthcare, stating the government is committed to making such services accessible to communities nationwide. The minister noted that the availability of on-site diagnostic testing will support the early detection of diseases, strengthening public health initiatives and efforts to build a healthier population. This development at Maalhos is part of a broader national programme. The Ministry of Health has announced plans to establish laboratory services in 76 islands across the Maldives this year.
