Major Road Encircling Haa Alif Baraathu to Be Developed to Modern Standards
Local News ·
The major road encircling Haa Alif Baraathu, a sand road cleared about 18 years ago, is set to be developed to modern standards. The road, approximately 2 kilometers long, was originally cleared and made for public travel in 2008. In response to residents' requests, the development work was assigned to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) earlier this year, with a completion target of 3 years and 5 months. Ali Shameem, President of the Baraathu Council, said in an interview with PSM News that since RDC and MTCC have been merged, the development work will now be carried out by MTCC. A specific area on the island has been allocated for casting work, and the work is expected to begin very soon. Shameem noted that the road is located very close to the sea and that residents strongly desire its development. Additionally, work is ongoing to pave roads in areas where the population has recently increased, including a 1-kilometer road developed by the Council, which is 70% complete. The Council highlighted that the public will gain significant convenience once the encircling road is developed to modern standards.
