Maldives and Saudi Arabia Pledge Stronger Ties in Trade and Investment

President Mohamed Muizzu and Saudi royal Prince Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and strategic development during high-level talks in Malé. Prince Dr. Mansour paid a courtesy call on the President at the President’s Office following a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival. The visit serves as a cornerstone for strengthening the longstanding relations between the two nations, which are rooted in shared faith and mutual respect. During the meeting, President Muizzu expressed his gratitude to the Saudi leadership for accepting his invitation to attend the official celebrations marking the 61st anniversary of the Maldives’ independence. He specifically highlighted the impact of the Makkah Route Initiative, noting that the program has significantly streamlined travel arrangements for Maldivian pilgrims traveling for Hajj and Umrah. In response, Prince Dr. Mansour emphasized that the Saudi leadership continues to place special importance on the welfare and development of the Maldives. The two leaders explored new opportunities to diversify their economic partnership, focusing on areas of mutual interest that could drive growth for both nations. Prince Dr. Mansour is visiting the Maldives as the Guest of Honour for the independence celebrations. He represents the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, underscoring the high level of diplomatic importance Saudi Arabia attaches to its relationship with the island nation.
