Maldives and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Counter-Terrorism Ties Through Joint Training

Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed has held high-level talks in Saudi Arabia to intensify bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism and regional security.
During his official visit, Minister Rasheed met with Major General Abdullah bin Hamed Al-Qurashi, the Deputy Military Commander of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC). The visit was conducted following an invitation from Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Defence.
A central focus of the discussions was the expansion of capacity-building efforts. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing security frameworks through the implementation of joint training initiatives, designed to modernize counter-terrorism tactics and improve operational readiness.
Beyond immediate tactical cooperation, the two officials discussed the necessity of strategic collaboration to address evolving regional and global security threats. By aligning their security priorities, the Maldives and Saudi Arabia aim to foster greater stability and peace within their respective spheres of influence.
