Maldives and Sri Lanka Strengthen Defense Ties in High-Level Military Meeting

The Chief of Defence Force of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, has met with the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, at the Sri Lankan Navy Headquarters in Colombo.
Upon his arrival, Major General Hilmy was formally welcomed with a traditional Guard of Honour, conducted in accordance with naval customs. The two senior military leaders then held a detailed discussion focused on matters of mutual strategic importance and enhancing bilateral defence cooperation between the two Indian Ocean nations.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with a ceremonial exchange of mementoes, symbolizing the continued goodwill and strengthening partnership between the armed forces of the Maldives and Sri Lanka. This high-level engagement underscores the ongoing commitment to regional security collaboration.
