Maldives Business Chamber Trains SMEs to Boost Efficiency Through Artificial Intelligence

World ·
The Maldives Business Chamber has launched a specialized training program designed to equip small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the tools to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their daily operations. The initiative marks the beginning of a broader business development series aimed at modernizing the local corporate landscape. President of the Maldives Business Chamber, Ahmed Amjad, confirmed that between 30 and 40 participants from both Malé and various atolls attended the session. Led by an experienced IT and AI specialist, the program focused on the practical application of technology to drive productivity and reduce operational overhead. According to Amjad, the primary objective of the training is to help local businesses enhance efficiency by automating repetitive tasks, simplifying the preparation of complex documentation, and reducing the reliance on large staffing numbers for administrative work. Furthermore, the Chamber highlighted AI's potential in helping SMEs bridge the gap to international markets, allowing smaller local firms to compete more effectively on a global scale. Attendees described the session as a critical resource, noting that the practical techniques shared would allow them to streamline business management and optimize resource allocation. The hands-on approach provided a roadmap for business owners to transition from traditional methods to AI-driven workflows. Established last December to champion the interests of the private sector, the Maldives Business Chamber has grown rapidly and now represents approximately 100 member companies. To sustain this momentum, the Chamber intends to conduct AI training regularly, ensuring that entrepreneurs across the archipelago—not just those in the capital—have access to these digital tools. Local businesses interested in accessing these resources or joining the organization can register through the Chamber's official website.
