The Maldives Chefs Union successfully held a culinary program in Amadhu, featuring a cooking training program and a competition aimed at empowering the women of UN Amadhu. The event was organized in connection with International Chefs Day, which is celebrated annually on October 20, and was held this year on October 30 and 31. The program was led by the Tazkeer Association and the Committee working for the development of women in Amadhu, with technical support from the Maldives Chefs Union. The Amadhu Council also participated in and assisted with the activities. Participants received practical training in cooking, pastry, and snack preparation. The program also included a cooking competition designed to encourage starting small food businesses through self-employment, provide opportunities to showcase newly learned skills, and demonstrate how income can be earned from home. Additionally, consultations were held on the importance of producing food at the island level for the tourism sector. Participants were informed about ways to strengthen the island's economy by selling locally prepared items to tourists. The two-day program and competition concluded with great enthusiasm among the many women on the island. Organizers stated that as a result, participants acquired new skills, had the opportunity to display their abilities in a competitive environment, and gained significant motivation to enter the business sector.
