Maldives Deploys 165 Industry Experts to Dubai for Arabian Travel Market

The Maldives is set to showcase its tourism offerings at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, starting tomorrow. Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has finalized preparations for the event, which runs from April 14 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This year's delegation is substantial, with 165 representatives from 74 Maldivian companies joining VMC. The group includes a diverse range of stakeholders, from luxury resort operators to guesthouse owners and other key tourism service providers, all aiming to strengthen the nation's presence in the Middle East. In an interview with PSM News, VMC Managing Director Abdulla Yasir confirmed that the Maldives' dedicated pavilion is complete and ready for visitors. Yasir acknowledged the current regional challenges in the Middle East but expressed confidence that the Maldives remains a highly attractive destination. He emphasized that the fair provides a critical platform to promote the islands and secure long-term growth in the region. A central component of the event will be high-level business-to-business (B2B) meetings designed to forge new partnerships. The Maldives also plans to solidify its aviation and logistics ties by signing memoranda of understanding with major industry players, including Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Dnata, the Middle East's largest tour operator. The strategic focus on Dubai underscores the region's importance to the Maldivian economy. According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, more than 80,000 tourists from Middle Eastern countries visited the Maldives last year. By leveraging the ATM, the government aims to further increase these arrival numbers and diversify its tourist base. As the fair begins, the focus remains on converting these diplomatic and business engagements into tangible growth for the tourism sector, ensuring that the Maldives remains the preferred getaway for Middle Eastern travelers.
