The Maldives has delivered vital food aid to vulnerable families in Gaza, Palestine, using funds collected as Fitr Zakat. The Maldives Zakat House, in collaboration with the civil society organization ISRA Association Maldives, allocated USD 32,425 to prepare and distribute essential food packs in the war-affected region.
Each aid pack contains critical staple items such as flour, cooking oil, and canned food products. These supplies address the severe scarcity and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The initiative highlights the Maldivian community's commitment to global Islamic solidarity in response to the escalating emergency. This year's Fitr Zakat collection reached a three-year high of over USD 972,762, reflecting a significant surge in public generosity.
According to the Zakat House, the remaining funds have been distributed as Zakat al-Fitr. A record USD 389 per head was provided to all registered poor and needy individuals in the Maldives during Ramadan.
