The Maldivian government has provided $50,000 in financial assistance to support Sri Lanka's recovery from Cyclone Ditwah. Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Mas’ood Imad formally handed over the aid to Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Vijatha Herath on December 2. This donation follows the Maldivian government's November 29 announcement of both cash assistance and 25,000 cases of canned tuna for cyclone relief. The Foreign Ministry stated the contribution demonstrates solidarity with Sri Lanka and reflects the deep commitment to the close bonds shared between the two nations. The Ministry expressed hope that the donation would support Sri Lanka's efforts to assist those affected by the cyclone. In response, Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister publicly thanked the Maldives for the assistance through social media, expressing gratitude for Maldivian solidarity and acknowledging the strong friendship between both countries. This gesture continues the tradition of mutual support between the neighboring Indian Ocean nations during times of natural disaster and humanitarian need.
