Maldives EV Project Team Completes Fact-Finding Trip to Bangkok

Environment ·
A specialized fact-finding trip to Bangkok, Thailand, focused on electric vehicles (EVs), has successfully concluded as part of the project titled “Integrated, Sustainable and Low Emission Transport in the Maldives,” organized under the GEF-7 framework by the implementing agency. The six-day activity, held from October 25 to 30, was planned and executed in collaboration with Thailand’s OTA and EVAT. During the trip, participants gathered important information regarding Thailand’s electric travel policies, modern technologies, and industry changes. The main focus was on importing EVs to the Maldives, manufacturing, and establishing safe charging systems. Consultations were also held on building technical personnel and enhancing battery maintenance capabilities. Participants visited DEC Green Energy, S.A.I.C Motor (MG), educational centers such as KMUTT and ABC, as well as PTT Charging Stations and Battery Testing Centers. The knowledge gained will support national efforts to establish and expand an environmentally friendly transport system in the Maldives.
