Maldives Expo 2026 Applications Surpass 350 as Interest in Local Innovation Grows

More than 350 applicants have registered for the Maldives Expo 2026, signaling a surge in interest compared to previous years, according to the Business Centre Corporation (BCC). The event serves as a premier national platform for artisans, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), digital creators, and innovators to showcase their work. This year's application volume represents a significant increase from the 240 participants who took part in last year's exhibition. The BCC has designed a comprehensive framework for the event, allowing participants to display products and services across 73 different categories spanning 16 distinct fields of industry and creativity. The exhibition is open to a diverse range of applicants, including Maldivian citizens aged 13 and older, local businesses, government-owned corporations, educational institutions, and local councils. The BCC has also emphasized inclusivity, encouraging individuals with disabilities to apply and participate. The growth of the expo aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's designation of this year as the 'Year of National Innovation.' The BCC intends to leverage this momentum to provide local creators with the most favorable environment possible to market their goods and services to a wider audience. Scheduled to run from October 23 to 31, the event aims to foster economic growth and creative expression across the archipelago. The BCC is urging interested parties to register promptly via the expo.mv portal to avoid last-minute technical delays. The application window remains open until August 31.
