Maldives Gas Reduces Cylinder Fill Amounts Amid Import Difficulties
Business ·
Difficulties have arisen in importing gas to the Maldives, and Maldives Gas has decided to reduce the amount of gas filled into cylinders. In an announcement made by Maldives Gas today, it was stated that this change was made due to difficulties encountered in importing gas to the country as global market prices for gas increased. The company decided to implement this change starting from next Friday. Maldives Gas said that with this change, 7 kilograms of gas will be filled into 10-kilogram cylinders, and 14 kilograms of gas will be filled into 22-kilogram cylinders. Furthermore, the company announced that starting from Friday, 31 kilograms of gas will be filled into 45-kilogram cylinders. Although this change is being implemented, Maldives Gas stated that there will be no change in the price of gas, and the price will be charged based on the weight of the gas filled into the cylinder at the currently determined rate per kilogram. The announcement by Maldives Gas stated that this change is temporary. Additionally, the announcement mentioned that the government is working to arrange for bringing and storing three months' worth of gas supply at once. The company said that once this project is completed, a permanent solution to the difficulties faced in importing gas will be obtained. Earlier, on March 15, in connection with the ongoing war in the Middle East, Maldives Gas had already limited the sale of gas and reduced the amount of gas filled into cylinders. Subsequently, on June 17, the company had increased the prices of 45-kilogram and 22-kilogram gas cylinders.
